jim gibson

Backwater Blues is Proud to welcome Jim Gibson to the band- an incredibly talented man, he adds a stroke of brilliance in his guitar playing and vocal abilities. And he's funnier than a Bag of hammers!

doc holliday

Mark “Doc” Holladay spent his formative years marveling at the awesome Hammond B3 and Leslie sounds of the classic rock organists of the time, including Jon Lord (Deep Purple), Felix Cavaliere (Rascals), Greg Rollie (Santana), Gregg Allman, Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge) and Goldy McJohn (Steppenwolf).

He played in rock bands out of Nashville during the 70’s, most notably Whale Forest, which toured throughout the southeastern United States playing at ear-burning volume. Later, he landed in north suburban Chicago, and played for 12 years with the RoughHouse Blues Band, playing opening shows for such national acts as Booker T and the MGs, Mitch Ryder, Molly Hatchett, and Savoy Brown, not to mention many contemporary Chicago blues acts like Mighty Joe Young.

He later lived in Tucson and most recently San Diego, where he still likes to pull out his Hammond M3 and Leslie for live shows whenever he can. Current organ heroes are Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, Joey DeFrancesco, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Tony Monaco, and Booker T. Jones.
